What is The ONE Thing That Made a Difference
Some time ago I got tired of hitting a wall trying to determine “the ultimate creative content” that would blow everyone out of the water.
I got tired of trying to come up with a big UNIQUE piece of content that was both eye-catching and engaging. Hey… it happens to the best of us, right?
The Ah-Ha Moment
Then, on a lunch break, it hit me! I remembered last year I came across a comment on one of my earlier videos. One particular channel “Just B&E Pottery,” said they found us from a mutual YouTube Creator friend and they said they “hope we can be friends”. So I did.
Later I learned it’s a channel run and created by 2 sisters (Brit and Elsie Wordal), and I have to say I was impressed with their talent and enthusiasm for creating cool content. What cracks me up is the way they joke and work together. It reminds me of my interactions with my brother, Josh. Seeing this type of interaction on their videos kept me going back to watch more of their videos… even after hitting YouTube’s Notification Bell. It dawned on me: There’s no reason I couldn’t reach out to a YouTuber and ask for a collaboration. What do I have to lose?
After reaching out, I felt so energized and gained so much clarity on how to bust through that creative block! (You can catch our work together with the video below.)
I realized that there’s ONE thing that made such a big difference when it comes to breaking out of a creative block: Collaboration!
I was promoting collaboration to others but I wasn’t doing it myself. I realized that without this ONE thing, everything just falls apart.
Collaborating helps jumpstart creativity!
It won’t work unless you put careful thought into who you reach out to and why you’re reaching out.
Ask Yourself
Here are some of the ways you can master the art of collaboration. Ask yourself:
● Do I have a common interest/goal?
● Do I have a way to contact the person directly?
● Do we have at least a congenial working relation?
Have you mastered the art of collaboration? Drop a comment and let us know.
