Although I didn’t attend the event, Robert spoke of the experience so highly that we had no choice but to write about it. On June 3rd, 2014, the Boston Women in Media & Entertainment (BWME) hosted a special networking event (called The Story Behind Her Success) featuring guest speaker, Bianca de la Garza, formerly of WCVB, and current CEO of Lucky Gal Productions in Boston. Formed in 2002, the BWME works as a networking and support organization for women already in media and aspiring hopefuls. Sha La La La Productions and the UR Business Network had the pleasure of filming the event.
Bianca herself had an important message to give to her audience, including Robert, who was one of few men present (talk about stepping out of one’s comfort zone)! Bianca’s talk advised women on “making it” in the media business. She spoke of the uniquely authentic and gritty people of New England and how giving back to the Community were musts. Bianca believed that being comfortable with one’s own identity and being an authentic person, especially in a field where “the camera doesn’t lie” were crucial to success. With handwork and persistence, Bianca stressed that anyone could positional themselves for great achievement.
There are many people to thank for the opportunities provided by this event. Special thanks to Bianca de la Garza, and co-founders of the BWME Candy O’Terry andDayla Arabella Santurri. Thank you to UR Business Network staff (Sergio Garcia, Sy Yules Lauren Culp and Brittany Rose Sullivan (with her great camera skills) Lastly, thanks to the staff of the Revere Hotel in Boston for their help. It took the efforts of many to make it all possible.
