Chamber launches ‘Shop Local Needham’ campaign
As part of a continuing effort dedicated to promoting local commerce, the Newton-Needham Chamber is releasing a series of videos extolling the benefits of shopping, dining, and banking in Needham.
One new video will be released each Thursday in May, as part of National Small Business Month, and will continue into early June.
“The Chamber was especially interested in launching this campaign this spring following a historically harsh winter that was especially challenging for so many of our independently-owned shops and restaurants,” said Greg Reibman, president of the Newton-Needham Chamber.
Each video, produced locally by Sha La La La Productions, features a Needham-based business person discussing the virtues of supporting local businesses and what makes downtown Needham special.
Featured in the videos are Diane Huang from Gari Japanese Fusion Bistro, Brenda & Maggie Stark from the Closet Exchange, Jeff Morin from Needham Center Fine Wines, Steve Waller from the Centre Café and Eric Morse from Needham Bank.
“Local businesses are essential to a community’s vibrancy and very identity,” Reibman said. “They generate revenue for our schools, our police, our fire department, and our roads. They create jobs for our friends, our neighbors, and our kids. They encourage entrepreneurship and they save us gas, reducing our carbon footprint.”
“We were extremely honored to be able to participate in the Chamber’s Shop Local Needham campaign and to work with these local merchants,” said Robert Lee, executive producer & owner of Sha La La La Productions. “I hope everybody enjoys the videos and is motivated to support our local businesses.”
The videos will be posted on the Chamber’s website (www.nnchamber.com) and Facebook page as well as on Discover Needham (www.discover.needham.com), YouTube and other sites.
