Kickstarter is a wonderful and creative way for filmmakers and producers to find support and create buzz for film and video projects, particularly for subjects that are slightly off the beaten path.
While scrolling through the site, we came across a film that looked especially interesting. It’s a documentary titled
Queens that follows the story of three women preparing for a New York City beauty pageant for seniors. The producers are
Eléonore Hamelin and
Kiran Alvi and it’s their first documentary production.
We were initially drawn to the rich video quality and the crisp editing. After watching the short trailer on Vimeo, we were completely drawn in by and inspired by the women who refuse to let age define or constrain them.
As someone who understands the challenges in editing and producing, we support them in meeting their goals. We made a small contribution and look forward to seeing the final product!
I regret that I didn’t see this film sooner on kickstarter since today is the last day of funding. For more on their project click on their promo photo for Queens below.
